Area 2 · Research & Future

Music and AI

AI is changing the music industry fast – and in ways that aren't always obvious. What happens to your music when algorithms can compose, produce and distribute? Who owns what?

In this area, the Academy of Music and Drama takes the lead. Together with industry organisations, we explore how AI can be a tool – and what we need to protect ourselves from. The results are shared openly with the whole industry.

Activities

AI & Creative Production

We test and explore concretely how AI can be used in music creation. Not as an answer to everything, but to understand what these tools can actually do – and can't do – for a musician or producer.

We look at both the opportunities – new creative expressions, more efficient production – and the risks, like copyright issues and music that all starts to sound the same. The industry needs to get ahead of this now.

What you take away
  • A real understanding of what AI is and how it works in a creative process
  • Concrete tools and new ways of working to try out
Copyright in the AI Era

When AI is trained on music – what happens to copyright? We work to make sure you as a creator understand your rights and have tools to protect them. This happens through seminars, case studies and collaboration with industry organisations.

What you take away
  • A clearer understanding of copyright and what it means for you
  • Practical guidance on how to protect your music and your brand
